Position Description
The Lumber Grader will be responsible for the inspection and grading of green hardwood lumber according to NHLA grading rules.
The Grader will also supervise employees to ensure the accurate sorting, stacking, and compiling of loads prior to customer shipment.
Required Skills & Experience
Inspect green hardwood lumber using NHLA grading rules and standards.
Manually and accurately indicate grade and trim markings on each board.
Maintain accuracy while keeping pace with sawmill production rates.
Oversee the accurate sorting and stacking of loads.
Maintain handheld lumber tally system.
Provide accurate grading reports for each load to the office for processing.
Provide weekly production reports to the office each Monday.
Perform all duties with safety as top priority.
Experience:
Strong math skills with basic computer knowledge.
Prefer lumber grader experience or background.
Able to make accurate decisions in a fast paced environment.
Strong work ethic.
