The Passing of Milt Cole

It is with heavy hearts that we report the passing of Milt Cole, 85, of Cole Hardwood.  Mr. Cole passed away peacefully at his home on Thanksgiving Day.

Mr. Cole was a longtime member of NHLA, served on the NHLA Board of Directors,  and contributed $100,000 to the NHLA Inspector Training School Education Foundation.

Dave Bramlage, Sales Manager at Cole Hardwoods noted one of Milt’s favorite sayings, “We’re all on this stairway, and no one reaches the top without reaching out to others.  If you will reach back and help someone who is a step or two behind you, you not only elevate yourself and that person, you elevate your local community and society in general.”

Tom Oilar, with Cole Hardwood, also honored Mr. Cole, saying “Milt will be missed by many. He was a mentor to me and I will forever be grateful for the wisdom he shared. He told me many times that it’s not where you are, it’s the direction you’re headed.  He had a gift to see the good in people and help them see the potential within them. I am honored to say he was my boss, mentor, and friend. We loved him and he will be forever missed.”

Milt was a very philanthropic and generous man, giving millions of dollars to his community, state, and industry.

He will be greatly missed.
