The Hardwood Economic Impact Study
Not only is the hardwood industry sustainable, it is good for the economy.
NHLA was involved in the recent Hardwood Industry Economic Impact Study published by the Hardwood Federation. NHLA contributed $20,000 to the study, which shows that the hardwood industry employs nearly 21 million people and contributes $394 billion to the U.S. economy.
In 2016, the United States hardwood product output was valued at $135.6 billion
The economic “ripple effects” of these hardwood products supported:
- $348.1 billion in economic output
- $156.9 billion in gross domestic product
- 1,834,670 jobs in the national economy
