The Hardwood Economic Impact Study

NHLA is proud to announce our involvement with the recent Hardwood Industry Economic Impact Study published by the Hardwood Federation. NHLA contributed $20,000 to the study, which shows that the hardwood industry employs nearly 21 million people and contributes $394 billion to the U.S. economy. 

Key Findings:

  • In 2016, the United States hardwood product output was valued at $135.6 billion

  • The economic “ripple effects” of these hardwood products supported: 

    • $348.1 billion in economic output
    • $156.9 billion in gross domestic product
    • 1,834,670 jobs in the national economy
