Partnerships that Matter: American Hardwood Export Council

NHLA members include buyers and sellers across our vast global supply, so we recognize both the challenges and opportunities in creating a positive, unified brand identity to promote the benefits of hardwood lumber to targeted audiences around the world.

The NHLA Board Promotion and Advocacy Committee, chaired by Dave Bramlage of Cole Lumber is responsible for identifying short and long term strategies to promote the sustainable and environmentally friendly nature of our industry through:

Identifying multiple delivery vehicles to reach students and other target audiences

Provide educational and communication tools to help our industry tell the story of their family run company’s commitment to the environment and the communications in which they live.  

Internationally, NHLA is a member of the Board and a major supporter of the American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC)  Supported by member dues and the joint efforts of the Foreign Agriculture Service (FAS) of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), AHEC conducts worldwide promotional campaigns in more than 35 countries.  

NHLA’s Chief Inspector Dana Spessert is an integral part of AHEC efforts to provide our members with a sharp competitive edge in international markets. Chief Spessert acts an global industry resource on the NHLA training rules to ensure hardwood transactions are made on a level playing field.
